Ru KIM
b. 1995 Hamburg, Germany
Lives and practices in Daejeon, South Korea; France
Ru KIM’s research-based artistic practice investigates the potential of art as a resistant mode, particularly within the realms of violence generated by colonial and patriarchal ideologies. Their works fundamentally question fixed identities and binaries, also speaking to hydro-, Black, and queer feminist theories. KIM’s recent projects focus on archives of queerness in Korean history and Orientalist constructions of "Asianness".
