Such As Holding a Meeting of the Artistic Director and the Curators -

The curators including artistic director and the curators of Busan Biennale 2014 will have an opportunity of sharing on the Busan Biennale 2014 in Busan on the coming April 29th.

In the upcoming meeting, all exhibition planners of Busan Biennale 2014 such as curator Kim Sou-Hyeun of the main exhibition, curator Kenshu Lee of the special exhibition ‘Biennale Archive ’ and the 4 co-curators of ‘Asian Curatorial’ including the artistic director Olivier Kaeppelin are planning to participate to discuss on the exhibition planning of the Busan Biennale 2014.

In the upcoming meeting, the artistic director Olivier Kaeppelin will explain the situation of promotion so far such as the concept of exhibition called ‘Inhabiting the World' and the exhibition planning objectives, etc while the curators of special exhibition are planning to share the exhibition planning intentions and the promotion objectives that they are conceiving. As the upcoming meeting is a measure for creating more organic and unified exhibition by forming a sympathy toward the exhibition theme and the promotion objectives of Busan Biennale 2014, the committee is planning to make the Busan Biennale 2014 into more harmonious and consistent exhibition as the planners look for the common ground to penetrate all three exhibitions.

From May 1st which is after all meetings are finished, the artistic director and the curators of special exhibition will enter the task of investigative research for the exhibition.

Olivier Kaeppelin is planning to continue the research on space called Busan and its urbanism by visiting the cultural areas of Busan such as visiting Busan Museum of Art on the 30th as well as visiting Nampo-dong which is the original downtown of Busan, Jagalchi, mountain side roads, Gamcheon Cultural Village and Gamman Creative Community, etc from May 1st, starting with the general exhibition planners’ meeting on the 29th. Also during this visiting period, he is planning to enter the task of making specific preparations on the Busan Biennale 2014 such as performing in-depth investigative research on the artists of Busan area pre-investigated in March at the same time and holding a planning conference with the designers for developing the E.I of Busan Biennale 2014.

The 4 curators of ‘Asian Curatorial’ named 'Junho Seo, Age 35, Republic of Korea’, ‘Hanada Shinichi, Age 42, Japan’, ‘Joleen Loh, Age 26, Singapore’ and ’Liu Chunfeng, Age 33, China’ visiting for the first time after being nominated as the curators of special exhibition are also planning to discuss on the detailed matters for the co-curate of exhibition after looking around the cultural areas of Busan such as Busan Museum of Art, Busan Cultural Center, Hong-Ti Art Center and Reclaimed Land Village, etc in addition to the Suyeong factory of KISWIRE, Ltd to be used as exhibition center of ‘Asian Curatorial Exhibition’.

Busan Biennale 2014 will be held at the Busan Museum of Art, Busan Cultural Center and Suyeong factory of KISWIRE, Ltd, etc under the theme of ‘Inhabiting the World’ from coming September 20th to November 22nd while planning to open up various programs including educational programs, academic programs, international exchange programs and public participation programs in addition to the exhibitions.

Also in the upcoming event, more plentiful exhibition is planning to be created in connection with the Busan Student Biennale 2014(sponsored by Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education) created by participation of elementary, middle and high school students of Busan area under the theme of ‘The Flight of Dreams Spread Within School’ or the related agencies such as Busan Cultural Foundation.
