Rosooni

Rosooni
The three themes - invisible reality, potential of humans and approach to Utopia - are mixed and represented in this human-shape robot. This work implies that a variety of phenomena in the modern world disrupt the order of nature. The artist intends to amuse the viewers and satisfy their desires with this work shaped like an organism that some future somatologists might create and that look like the outcome of various games. In particular, the opaque legs of Rossoni where LED lights are installed symbolize personal wounds as well as symptoms of social pathology. The patterns on the back of Rosooni sitting in a Buddha-like posture are Korean traditional patterns which express extraordinariness. The combination of strong colors and different media creates a sense of tension. As a small narrative in everyday life is mixed with materiality, the inner world of people is depicted candidly .

Boony's Mother
Boony's Mother is a modern recreation of an old wooden figure depicting a servant of the nobility. This work that represents a simple and faithful woman who works hard evokes romantic feelings. She looks manly, obedient and cheerful with cold and stubborn lips. In the modern world with a complicated social structure, Boony's Mother whose face is covered with perpetual sweating may be a laughing stock and also represents people in the lower-middle class. Inspired by this work, Ttami, a character of a father who protects his family, was produced.
