We'll All End Up Rocks in a Lake
This is a diary of Park Bong Hwang. He started to write because Yuri asked him to do so to find himself. A private detective in his 50s，Park investigates The Gold Sea case, where Baik Eunjin, an architect was poisoned to death while he was having a blowfish soup at The Gold Sea restaurant. Chef of the restaurant, Ro who is accused of murdering the man keeps insisting that someone must have set this up. Ro tells Park that while he was cooking, he left to buy a pack of cigarettes. He normally never leaves his kitchen, but his Chinese waitress had quit the job a couple of months ago. When he came back, he only realized Baik’s death from a girls scream. While chasing the case, he bumps into a man with a camera, looking very familiar. After the interaction, Park starts to reminiscence his past and becomes confused. Park is certain that Ro is a suspect and tries to put the puzzle together to resolve the case. There is an announcement looking for a missing man, Park Bong Hwang in 80s. Park realizes that some of his memories are missing, so he writes down about himself: Park Bong Hwang, 53-year-old. Last, he visits a former waitress at The Gold Sea and finds out that she has written down a daily routine of Ro and had given it to a stranger. Park once again runs into a man with a camera and follows him. Suddenly someone strikes his head so he falls down on the street. Then the man with a camera slowly walks to him and who was Park in 20s. In the meantime, an individual carrying a pen with the name Ilmak Construction Company broke into the waitress’s house and got caught by police. He，who was hired by Ilmak company and used to be a cook on a boat confessed his crime. And unfortunately, the waitress did not survive.
Andres Felipe SOLANO, Novelist
Andrés Felipe SOLANO is a novelist born in 1977 in Colombia. He is the author of the novels Sálvame, Joe Louis; Los hermanos Cuervo and Cementerios de neón. He also published Salario mínimo, an essay about his experience as a factory worker for six months. Corea, apuntes desde la cuerda floja, a non-fiction book about his life in South Korea, received the 2016 Premio Biblioteca de Narrativa Colombiana prize and was translated in 2018 into Korean under the title 한국에 삽니다(Corea, apuntes de la cuerda floja, 2015). He was chosen as one of the Best Spanish-Language Young Writers by the UK literary magazine Granta.
