The Sea Art Festival 2013 Poster Is Unveiled

The Sea Art Festival 2013 Poster Is Unveiled

Accounting the Significance of the History and Site Specificity of the Sea Art Festival

The Sea Art Festival 2013, a proud art brand of Busan representing its marine culture, will be held at Songdo Beach from September 14 through October 13, and the festival’s official poster and emblem have been unveiled to the public. The poster stems from the exhibition theme of the Sea Art Festival 2013, “With Songdo: Remembrance, Marks, People.”
On a white background, blue and gold are used as the main color scheme, signifying the sea where the exhibition will be held, and a rectangular net of dots, spilling out from blue and gold frames, makes a reference to the exhibition theme and the site specificity of the Sea Art Festival.

The three frames, the core elements of the poster, not only indicate continuity in the past, present, and future, using size and compositional variations, but also grasp the theme of the Sea Art Festival 2013, embodying the original form of the Sea Art Festival 2013 (Remembrance) and the changes of the present (Marks) expanding to the new future (People), as well as the prospects of the Sea Art Festival. The three frames also imply images of Songdo Beach, where the Sea Art Festival 2013 will be held, marking its 100th anniversary.

Taking the blue frame image, a symbol of the present, from the official poster, the emblem uses concise wave patterns and a rectangular net of dots to once again highlight the site specificity of the exhibition, and represents the Sea Art Festival 2013 by concurrently displaying the name of the event and the exhibition theme.

The poster and emblem will be applied in a variety of future PR materials, including prints, outdoor advertisements, online banners, and exhibition catalogues to establish a unified image and effective PR of the event.

The poster and emblem for the Sea Art Festival 2013 were designed by Greengreem, a design group based in Busan. Since 2009, Greengreem has been running a graphic design studio, a handmade object workshop, and a small bookstore, working in various areas such as identity design, print media, motion graphics, and illustrations.

The Sea Art Festival 2013, “With Songdo: Remembrance
·Marks·People” will be held at Songdo Beach, Busan for 30 days from September 14 through October 13, exhibiting 35 works of art by domestic and international artists.
