Sad Elephant on the beach

Sad Elephant on the beach
When an elephant calf is born, the father elephant leaves and the mother spends her entire life taking care of the calf in a matriarchal society. Perhaps because of this structure, elephants have a very strong maternal instinct. The artist interprets the life of a female elephant in the same light as the life of a typical Korean mother. Mother elephants provide shadows when their babies fall asleep, standing still and even skipping meals. That is what our mothers do for us, and what the artist does for her two daughters. At the same time, this elephant can also be interpreted as an image of people living in the modern world who carry their own burdens but keep moving forward. Imagine an elephant walking in high heels. That might be the portrait of us who walk on an uncertain path of reality. That is, this work aims at giving a snapshot of our everyday life in the language of formative art.
Now, mothers tired of their daily routine and all of us living in the modern world will take a moment to appreciate the beauty of Songdo Beach which was called 'Naples of the East', lying on the beach, taking a deep breath and taking a well-deserved rest. All of us sometimes need a splendid outing. This inflatable elephant incorporates a motor and time controller inside which makes the elephant look like breathing. Also, with an LED light installed inside, it exudes ambient light at night.
